Rurouni Kenshin: My Salvation

^{Episode 24: A Wish Unrequited}

Kaoru watches the fireflies while waiting for Kenshin. Soon, he appears, and announces that he will be going to Kyoto. Kaoru is worried that this means he will go back to being the Battosai. Kenshin says he’s not sure, but his battle with Saito earlier taught him that deep down there’s a manslayer who will never be able to change his ways. Kaoru does her best to try and convince Kenshin that he will always only be a wanderer. However, Kenshin says that he cannot stay and put them all in danger. Kenshin tells Kaoru that he thought he could become a normal swordsman at the Kamiya dojo. He then holds Kaoru in his arms and tells her that he must leave. Kenshin then pulls away and walks into the dark, leaving Kaoru crying.
